Loose Moose Went Down Under...and Met Sam Brand

The fourth generation winemaker, growing up in the region of Coonawarra at the family property known as ‘Brands Laira’ Growing up in the family business, working in the vines and winery was a special time in his life, where a lot of knowledge was passed down from his father and grandfather.

Coonawarra is one of the most pristine wine regions in the world, with a perfect climate for growing premium grapes. The famous ‘Terra Rossa’ soil sits atop a layer of limestone, which was formed from the floor of an ancient inland sea. Underneath this limestone is a pure aquifer providing an endless supply water for the vines to grow. This climate allows many varieties including Chardonnay, Riesling, Shiraz and most importantly Cabernet Sauvignon to grow exceptionally well here. Each variety has a unique flavour and taste that is produced by this region.

Since 2012 Sam have run Brand & Sons which now has achieved 5-star Halliday ratings and includes Jim Brand Limited Releases, Coonawarra Untold range and now Nightfall Coonawarra.
